How to write well.

You want to know how to write well? Google it.

It's all out there. There is no advice I can think of that is general enough to apply to any aspiring author that hasn't been given. The really useful stuff, the stuff that's specific to each individual author can't be given in a blog post.

Authors love to give "10 tips" type of posts, and it does generate oage clicks, but they NEVER say anything new. Trust me, I've read them all. Yeah, that's right, all of them. Don't think it's possible? Prove it.

Anyway, it grates on the nerves after a while.

Whatever tips an author receives get sucked in like the air gets sucked into the plane in the picture, and in no time look nothing like what went in. It does feed the author's neurosis to get those kinds of tips, feeds that questioning, "Is there anything I haven't thought of?" But eventually it just becomes a security blacket of reassurance.
